American Beauty Cruises & Charters

COVID-19 update

Updates to our operational changes due to the  Coronavirus pandemic are documented here.  We are making every effort to provide a safe experience for our customers and crew during this unprecedented time. The good news is that our operation is completely outdoors and most experts agree that being outdoors is much safer than being indoors. Adding social distancing and safety mask requirements, provides an additional layer of safety. We will continue to work with guidelines from safety experts, Governor Cuomo and local health authorities to help us operate our boat rides in a safe and responsible manner. This page is to keep everyone informed of our operational changes and we welcome comments, ideas and suggestions.

Operational Changes

Process

  • Captain Don and the crew will be wearing face masks and undergo a daily wellness check
  • American Beauty II will be disinfected before every boat ride
  • Passengers' temperature will be taken prior to boarding using a touchless forehead thermometer
  • Hand sanitizer will be available on the boat
  • We are reducing our vessel capacity for open boat cruises by almost 50% to ensure social distancing guidelines are met
  • A new boarding and deboarding procedure has been instituted
  • We highly recommend buying tickets online, but we have upgraded our credit card reader for 2020 to a card chip reader and an EMV reader for touchless payments

Communication

  • Our ticketing system will be used to generate contact tracing reports (if necessary)
  • Establish and maintain a daily cleaning log
  • Completed COVID-19 Reopening Safety Plan required by the NY State DOH
  • Implemented a "Health and Safety" pull down menu that displays COVID-19 information. Available to customers throughout the booking process.
  • Included COVID-19 information in the company terms and policies. Displayed during the booking process.
  • Added passenger COVID-19 requirements to the conformation notes for all ticket sales. These notes are included in the receipt page, confirmation email, and reminder email for every booking.

Passenger Requirements

Open Boat Rides

  • All passengers are required to wear a face mask
  • Passengers' temperature will be taken prior to boarding using a touchless forehead thermometer
  • Boarding and deboarding will be done by household/passenger groups
  • Passenger groups are asked to maintain social distancing using boat markings as a guide
  • We highly recommend buying tickets online for a touchless transaction
  • Please remember to bring your ticket / QR code for touchless checkin

Private Charters

  • All passengers will have their temperature checked upon boarding
  • Masks are required upon boarding and deboarding:
Once the boat is away from the dock and moving (and the air is flowing) you are not required to wear masks as long as you socially distance from Captain Don and the first mate. If you need to discuss anything with them, please put the mask back on. As we return and approach Long Wharf, please put your masks back on until you leave the dock. For the most part, you will have the boat to yourselves, but social distancing respect for the captain and crew is required by law and appreciated. Please note that COVID-19 requirements for private charter passengers is less restrictive due to entire party being from the same household and social distancing is not necessary except from the captain and crew.
