Boating Safety Overview –

Protecting our passengers, crew, and the environment is the number one priority for American Beauty Cruises & Charters. We follow the safety standards established and enforced by the United.States Coast Guard (USCG) and we are inspected regularly to ensure we meet these standards.
Additionally, we operate within the confines of the Peconic Estuary and Shelter Island Sound. We do not go out to sea and are therefore never far from land and the many beautiful sights. This further adds to the safety of our tours and private charters.
The safety standards for vessels, especially those that carry passengers, are a set of regulations and guidelines designed to ensure that boats and ships are safe for operation.
The USCG regulations cover many areas including vessel constuction and safety equipment standards. Each ot these areas are regularly inspected. Some like safety are inspected annually, while other like vessel construction, are inspected on a 3 to 5 year basis.
Another blog covers the various safety equipment deployed by Captain Don. It can be read here. There is another blog decicated to the use of life jackets and PFDs (Personal Floation Devices).
